Dear Brothers,

Below is the Bio for our guest speaker for Tuesday’s open meeting, Sophie Cappello. Remember, that the deadline for new members to be inducted on May 3rd is March 3rd. Also, give some thought to the members that you’d like to nominate for the board. The April 5th meeting is when we will nominate the new directors.

Sophie Cappello was born and raised in New Haven and graduated from Yale University in 2020. As a history major, she took many classes about urban history, including New Haven and the American City and former Mayor DeStefano’s seminar, Making Public Choices in New Haven. She wrote her senior essay about New Haven’s first Italian-American mayor, which was awarded the Richard Hegel prize for an outstanding senior thesis about greater New Haven. Upon graduating, she moved to England to study history and politics at University College London. Now she is completing a master’s degree at Columbia Journalism School in New York City. Her work focuses on urban issues, city planning and neighborhood development.

Have a good day,
